Biography

Šukar is Slovenian tamburitza ensemble, a music band, that plays mostly gypsy music, which origins mainly from eastern and south-eastern Europe.

The group was formed in 1990, it has five members, who often invite other musicians from Slovenia and abroad to join them at stage.

Šukar is the first Slovenian music group, that simultaneously made Slovenian people more familiar with gypsy music and also introduced larger European public with their work. In 2001 Šukar even played their music in Japan.

Beside playing gypsy music, Šukar, as a tamburitza ensemble, often cooperates with various musicians in playing their music as well.
Playing gypsy music is for Šukar a joy, a passion, a way of expressing deepest feelings. Šukar plays the music that touches every listener. The band invites you to enjoy with them!
